International Corporation Flexcell® Fluid Shear Systems

Fluid Shear System
Fluid-induced shear stress occurs in every tissue in the body as a result of interstitial fluid movement. Tissue deformation by compression, tension or shear forces results in the movement of interstitial fluid around cells. Fluid movement acts as a transport vehicle for ions, proteins, carbohydrates and other molecules capable of movement within the matrix. As the fluid moves past cell membranes, a shear stress, t, is generated. If one assumes that laminar flow occurs through a parallel-plate flow chamber, fluid-induced shear stress values can be determined with the following formula: t = 6uQ/bh2, where t is the shear stress in dyne/cm2, u is the viscosity of the fluid in dynes/cm2, Q is the flow rate in ml/s, b is the width of the flow channel in cm, and h is the height of the flow channel in cm.

The Streamer® is a parallel-plate flow system that is used to apply fluid-induced shear stress to cells grown in a monolayer. The system includes a six-chamber laminar flow device designed to hold 75 x 25 x 1 mm Culture Slips®. The Streamer® system can be used to apply laminar, pulsatile*, or oscillating* flow to cell in monolayer culture (Figure 3) and uses a computer-controlled peristaltic pump to regulate shear stress from 0-35 dynes/cm2.

*When used in conjunction with the Osci-Flow® Flow Controller.

The Flexcell® FlexFlow™ Shear Stress Device is a parallel plate laminar flow device designed to apply fluid shear stress and/or cyclic strain to cells in culture while providing a means for viewing cell activity under a microscope in real time. Like the StageFlexer®, the FlexFlow™ fits on the stage of a standard upright microscope.

For fluid flow on the micro and nanofluidic levels, Flexcell has the HiQ Flowmate Fluid Control System. The HiQ Flowmate® unit is a dual syringe pump that utilizes five separate modules: constant, continuous, ramped, oscillatory, and pulsatile flow to represent a variety of applications. In addition to applying fluid shear stress to cells in culture, this device can also be used for diluting, dispensing, & injecting; animal drug infusion and fluid withdrawal; mixing & proportioning fluids, among other applications.

Osci‐Flow®The Osci-Flow®

Osci‐Flow®The Osci-Flow® is a software-controlled valve-operated device designed to provide oscillatory or start-stop flow patterns to cells cultured in the Streamer®, FlexFlow™ or other perfusion devices. The Osci-Flow® device is able to regulate flow both in an oscillatory (flow reversal) manner and in a pulsatile (square wave) mode, where the flow is stopped and then restarted after a designated period of time. The StreamSoft™ software allows the user to regulate frequency of oscillation or pulsatile patterns, as well as shear stress levels applied to cells.

Why fluid shear stress

Fluid-induced shear stress occurs in every tissue in the body as a result of interstitial fluid movement. Culture Slips® Microscope Slides and Coverslips

 

    Works with the Streamer® and FlexFlow™ systems. Each slip is matrix treated to promote cell attachment.
  • Culture Slips® are available in two sizes: 75 mm x 25 mm x 1.0 mm (for Streamer® or FlexFlow™), 75 mm x 24 mm x 0.2 mm (for FlexFlow™ only).
  • The 25 mm x 75 mm x 1.0 mm Culture Slips® are rimmed with a 1.0 mm wide Teflon® border to help limit cell culture growth to the portion of the slip exposed to fluid flow.
  • Available with covalently bound extra cellular matrix surfaces such as Collagen Type I, Elastin, Pronectin®, Laminin, Amino, as well as untreated.

StageFlexer® Membranes for the FlexFlow™

 

StageFlexer Membranes for the FlexFlow   Flexible growth surfaces that are individually packaged free membranes for the StageFlexer® or FlexFlow™ dynamic culture products.
  • Applications consistent with BioFlex® culture plates.
  • Membrane is clear for direct viewing of cells.
  • Membranes are in a closed SpillGuard® culture dish to maintain sterility even after outer packaging is opened.

flexcell®FX-5k flexlink®tension or compression应力加载或压力加载传导仪
可同时进行四个不同的实验程序!
应力加载传导仪或压力加载传导仪,和FX-5000T应力加载系统或FX-5000C压力加载系统连接后使用,通过主机控制,四个FlexLink可以同时操作,进行四个不同的实验程序。
每个FlexLink传导仪都是一个独立的控制系统,和FX-5000T应力加载系统或FX-5000C压力加载系统连接后即可使用。
FlexLink需要和真空泵或压力源使用

该系统记录三维人工组织中凝胶压实的过程自动、重复扫描。分辨率可达600pdi;可以设备扫描频率、次数;与FX-5000TT一起使用,可以记录三维细胞培养凝胶的压实动力学。存储的图像可以输入XyFlEX®程序进行凝胶面积的计算。

该系统双注射泵可以在微升、纳升、微微升水平上控制液体流。

可同时进行四个不同的实验程序!
应力加载传导仪或压力加载传导仪,和FX-5000T应力加载系统或FX-5000C压力加载系统连接后使用,通过主机控制,四个FlexLink可以同时操作,进行四个不同的实验程序。
每个FlexLink传导仪都是一个独立的控制系统,和FX-5000T应力加载系统或FX-5000C压力加载系统连接后即可使用。
FlexLink需要和真空泵或压力源使用
 

该系统记录三维人工组织中凝胶压实的过程自动、重复扫描。分辨率可达600pdi;可以设备扫描频率、次数;与FX-5000TT一起使用,可以记录三维细胞培养凝胶的压实动力学。存储的图像可以输入XyFlEX®程序进行凝胶面积的计算。

该系统双注射泵可以在微升、纳升、微微升水平上控制液体流。

该设备是完美的液流控制模式,通过计算机控制提供可调控的,往返式的或者脉冲式的流体切应力。
维持泵的流速不变,最大限度的降低改变泵的转速引起的流液反应的延迟。
