Although derived from cells taken from a patient with a plasmacytoma, this line has been shown to be an EBV-transformed B lymphoblastoid cell line. [43270]
The cells produce, but do not secrete, immunoglobulin.
No surface immunoglobulin.
8-azaguanine mutants may be cloned out or mutagenized for HAT sensitive cultures.
Can be used as a human fusion line.
Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Start cultures at 5 X 10 exp5 cells/ml and maintain between 5 X 10 exp5 and 1 X 10 exp6 cells/ml.
